Notes on Barcelona Trip

The second leg of our Europe trip was in Barcelona. We learned from our visit to Paris to just relax and throw out the itinerary. We did manage to do three structured activities – day trip to Sitges, a cooking class and a bike tour.


We drove straight from the airport to Sitges, a small fishing town 30 minutes outside of Barcelona. It is a lovely quaint town flanked by mountains and blue-green Mediterranean sea.

We explored streets built for horse buggies centuries ago and ate way too much gelato.

Barcelona greeted us with chilly 60 degrees weather so we couldn’t enjoy the beach and pool as we would’ve like to. However, the weather was perfect for a bike tour around Gothic quarters and throughout the city. Our tour guide gave us so many nuggets on the history of Catalonia.

Hands down the best part of our time in Barcelona was a cooking class with FoodieExperienceBCN. We made a three course meal with a renowned chef. We got a chance to eat the meal with other tourists and share a bit of our lives and learn about the history of Barcelona from our host. The experience of cooking a meal with strangers and then sitting down to connect was absolutely beautiful.

The remainder of our stay was spent strolling around the city with no destination in mind.

We stayed at the W Hotel in Barcelona. The infinity pool overlooking a scenic view of the ocean made it a perfect getaway, however, the weather did not allow us to lounge on the beach or pool.
